Tenthredo mesomela

I browsed the excellent gallery and found my wasp to look like Tenthredo arcuata, but I also saw a similar that was identified as just Tenthredo so I assume there are lookalikes. I can't say what Tenthredo species we have in Sweden as Symphyta isn't yet possible to register in Artportalen. I have a few more photos, but I don't think they reveal any more info than this does.

Hi

I cant say something about Symphyta. But i'll try to get hold of the 2 Sawfly specialist E. Jansen & A. Taeger which are sometimes active in the Entomologie.de/forum.

here is the answer of Ewald Jansen - a sawfly specialist:

T. arcuata has much shorter antenna and the light colour is not greenish but yellow. It is most likely T. mesomela (sealevel up to montan; side of thorax green with small black stripe, underside of thorax nearly completely green); its close relative T. obsoleta (montan & alpin) has the whole thorax beneath the wings black and T. mioceras (collin, montan), another very similar species, the sides of thorax with a broader black stripe and the underside black. In the last species the antenna are shorter.
Ewald
