social wasps of Iran

Postby Libor on 22 Jul 2008, 17:53

Dear colelagues! Iam working (together with James Carpenter and other specialist) on the larger paper about social wasps of Iran. I am trying to collect all available data, published as well as unpublished from both private and museum collections. So let me ask you for the help. I would highly appreciate info about papers concerning the data on social wasps (Vespinae and Polistinae) of Iran (former Persia). Also I would highly appreciate the data from the private collections as well as the data (or info about them) from museum collections. Of course, all helpers should be included to acknowledgmenets of our paper and into my mind. Many thanks for all responses

I have no data, Iran is still difficult to get material. At the other hand Raymond Wahis and me just finished a small paper about Pompilidae of Iran. We identified the collection of Teheran museum - I think you will have this contact?

Hi

I unfortunatly also cannot contribute anything myself. But maybe its worth a try to contact Dr. Dmitry Milko (Bishkek, Kyrgystan) (dmmilko@yahoo.com). I'm just back from an expedition there and i know now that he has lots of old contacts in middle asia and knows the russian literture. So maybe he can somewhat help or they even might have material in Bishkek. I also know that a large number of specimens of their collection went to Tel Aviv through dubious ways. That might be also worth a try.

Best regards
Eckart
