P. taurica vs P. vindobonensis

Postby BeeWolf on 15 Jan 2009, 12:44

Can anybody tell me how to distinguish between P. taurica and P. vindobonensis ????

According to Fauna Europaea P. vindobonensis was synonomised as P. tauricus (Radchenko A. G. 1996), but according to antbase.org they are two separate species. Whichever side you support it suggests there must be some difference in somebody's mind.

Thanks

U should check on google. I just IDed some of my South African ants and found myself between 2 species. Checking google i found a paper on the taxonomic status of these two sympatric species and they found them to be synonym. So also in this case antbase wasnt up to date.
