Greek Vespidae

Greek Vespidae

Postby Libor on 30 Oct 2008, 18:58

Dear colleagues! I am working on the material of Greek Vespidae from the Kerkini project (see Gordon's older posts). I wish to complete the references about the Greek Vespidae (of course including Eumeninae) fauna. Can you inform me about all papers known to you? Full references, please. Thanks to all. Libor

Libor, I don't know of anymore studies on the Greek Vespidae. I have been looking around for other publications on the social wasps of Greece but not much is written on them. The paper you did with Gordon Ramel is pretty good: http://academia.edu/1488329/Dvorak_and_ ... olistinae_ This paper adds new distributional data. A new record for D. norwegica from Greece is found here: http://academia.edu/1910877/Castro_and_ ... c_region_3 but other than these papers you authored, not much is written on the Vespidae of Greece.

Here are a few more reports on the social wasp fauna of Greece:
1.) Arens (2011); This paper describes a new species of Polistes from Greece (P. hellenicus Arens) from Greece and lists many additional records of social wasps occuring in Greece: http://www.academia.edu/4614181/Arens_2 ... gschlussel

2.) Nuemeyer et al (2014); This paper gives a key to the Polistes gallicus group including Polistes hellenicus Arens and describes a new European paper wasp species P. helveticus Nuemeyer: http://zookeys.pensoft.net/articles.php?id=3707
