Unidentified Braconidae from Madeira

Unidentified Braconidae from Madeira

Postby hymadeira on 17 Apr 2018, 12:14

Dear all,

I took the image attached from inside the building where I work and unfortunately the specimen flew away. I never saw this species before neither saw it again. I suppose it is a species of Atanycolus (Braconidae: Doryctinae). Am I correct? Anybody recognizes this species? What hosts does it feed on?

Sorry for the image being rotated but was impeded to attach it upright.

Thanks for any insight!

according to Van Achterberg, this genus is unidentifiable in photo!

Thanks for your reply Camille. So you are saying that even the genus can't be confirmed by the photo (we can't say it belongs to Atanycolus) or that it is imposible to identify it to species level?
