Little ant-like red wasp with black head

Postby Marion on 30 Aug 2017, 11:14

Hi,
yesterday,I found this wasp in a forest in Germany, Saxony. Size ~ 5 - 6 mm. Could it be a Polyaulon or Gelis?
The ovipositor is very short.
Best wishes,
Marion

Dear Camille and Marion,
I think it is Thaumatogelis vulpinus, but it can also be a closely related species or, but not very likely, a Gelis.
Best wishes
