Ichneumonidae from Hungary

Postby piros on 10 Mar 2017, 18:04

I found this wasp on 15-10-2016, near Csákvár, Hungary. Size about 17mm.
Is it possible to ID this sp.?
Thanks for any help!

Probably Pimpla rufipes (Pimplinae, Pimplini)

After some search in the Internet, I found that the 5th joint of the hind leg in this specimen is too long
for Pimpla (see pic.). Could this be Itoplectis viduata instead?

I have only 5 males of Pimpla rufipes and one female Itoplectis to compare with. The length of the fifth segment of hind tarsus is not to long for Pimpla after what I can see.
The antennae are very slender, and I can not see any strong indentation on the eyes right above level of antennal sockets.
But I do not know species known to Hungary that can be very simalar to Pimpla rufipes.

Thank you Gunnar! You are right, there is no strong indentation of eyes above antennae. However, it is confusing that the ratio between the length of the 2nd and 5th tarsal joints seems to be different than what is shown here:
