Aoplus F castaneus/biannulatorius (Bodø, northern Norway)

Aoplus F castaneus/biannulatorius (Bodø, northern Norway)

Postby Geir_Oersnes on 02 Feb 2017, 13:35

I think this is Aoplus castaneus (identical to female identified by Valemberg earlier), but I've also included the photographed specimen into the project "Ichneumonidae of Northern Norway" on BOLD (Barcoding of Life). Barcode from this specimen matches Aoplus bianullatorius in the database by 100%....

I don't have the descriptions of Aoplus biannulatorius (Thunberg 1824) female! Does anyone have these? Need to check again (even if my specimen matches all descriptions of castaneus, perhaps biannulatorius is very similar?).

Size of the specimen is ~9 mm. Scopa is present. Segment 1 of flagellum length/width about 3,4. Segment 23 about 1,2 (cf. key in Perkins).

Date of collection: 12.10.2016 (in Bodø, northern Norway)

Thanks for adding the descriptions from Thunberg (it should be 1822, not 1824?). But unfortunately this doesn't help me much, I need more details. Aoplus castaneus is apparantly similar in colouration to A. annulatorius, are there some structural details mentioned in the descriptions? Aoplus annulatorius isn't included in any of the keys I have (maybe it's included in Rasnitsyn's key from 1981, but I don't have that).

But "scutello flavo" means that Aoplus biannulatorius should have yellow scutellum?
