Which blackgrey Ichneumonoidea? >Tryphoninae >Eridolius spec

Which blackgrey Ichneumonoidea? >Tryphoninae >Eridolius spec

Postby john bouwmans on 02 May 2014, 19:30

Hi,
I found today these 2 black and grey Ichneumonoidea. Bodylength about 10-11 mm. I think they are both the same species. Found it in a swampy part of a former Sandpit in the middle of The Netherlands. Picture 1 and 2 of invidual 1 and 3-5 from the 2nd individual.
I would be pleased to know the genus or when possible the species.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
John Bouwmans

Thanks Gergely. Perhaps a second approach is still to come. Looking in that family, this one looks like Eclytus exornatus (Gravenhorst 1829)

When looking further in the Tryphoninae-subfamily I found a very simular species, identified as Eridolius spec. (Tryphonine Exenterini Eridolius sp. sur Crataegus en avril en Bretagne (Dét. Dr.Gavin Broad)
picture in the middle of this page at aramel.free : http://aramel.free.fr/INSECTES14ter-30'.shtml

Confirmation of Eridolius spec. (or correction) is still very welcome!
Thanks in advance and best regards,

Maybe Smicroplectrus, same tribus as Eridolius (Exenterini)
This one look very much like Smicroplectrus jucundus in Boldsystems:

http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/Ta ... searchTax=

As far as I know is the best key for Smicroplectrus (and other Exenterini/Cteniscini) still:
Kerrich, G.J. 1952. A review, and a revision in greater part, of the Cteniscini of the Old World (Hym., Ichneumonidae). Bull. Brit. Mus. (Nat. Hist.), London Ent. 2: 307-459 (1952).

One of the pictures from Boldsystems attached.
