Osmia cornuta?

Osmia cornuta?

Postby Karola on 09 Apr 2018, 11:35

Hallo,

this bee was busy flying to and fro at the root area of a fallen tree trunk. The area is a long stretched woody green area with a creek with some ponds. Seen in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Northrhine-Westfalia, on 7th of April 2018, afternoon.
Is the bee Osmia cornuta or can O. bicolor not be excluded?

Best regards,
Karola

Definitely O. cornuta, bicolor has reddish tarsa and less robust body.

Thank you Derek. I didn't know about the colour of tarsa (or I overlooked the information), so thank you also for this detail.
