Polistes dominula dominatrix?

Postby Robert Nash on 09 Nov 2008, 22:46

Strange but true.Don't miss clicking on the photomontage http://www.geocities.com/quelea/waspinfo.html

Polistes is the single largest genus within the family Vespidae, with over 300 recognized species and subspecies. Too many?

Dominance? Are these results true? In my opinion, black clypeal spot is depending from climate. In central Europe, clypeus is yellow, except a few specimens from extreme south. In southern Europe, clypeal spot is large.

By the way: the black and red belt color in the karate photo is not a sign of status, but a mean in contest, to can distinghuish fighter A and fighter B. The status belt colors are white, yellow, green, blue, brown, black (or others, depeding from stile of Karate).

P.s. And about number of genera: a genus is not defined by number of species in this genus.
